About: Vicki Buck

Vicki Buck was mayor of Christchurch for nine years from 1989 and is widely regarding as having led a turnaround in Christchurch as a city and community. She co-founded the new schools Discovery and Unlimited and chaired the Learning Discovery Trust. She is a former Director of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, and member of the Prime Minister's Science and Innovation Advisory Council. Vicki is involved in a number of companies in the renewables area, including Aquaflow Bionomic, Carbonscape, Celsias and New Zealand Windfarms, and was named by the UK's Guardian newspaper as one of "50 people who could save the planet".
